Our founding principle at Portobello was really simple: create the best possible pub company to work in.
By treating our people well and being a great place to work, we attract brilliant teams to our pubs and bars. And naturally, teams of brilliant people run brilliant pubs. It's why we were so happy to be named a finalist for the Best Pub Employer category at The Publican Awards 2026.
The other key ingredient in the plan, was always going to be great, local beers.
When Portobello was founded, we shared a name and a vision with our friends at Portobello Brewing. We grew from one pub to twenty-one, as they grew from a core range of brews into a beer-lover's favourite. Our pubs proudly serve up Portobello Pilsner, and we donate 10p from every pint sold to our charity partner Only a Pavement Away.
We love bringing fantastic new pints to the taps, and our teams have always prioritised local craft breweries, who share our love of characterful beer. Why not head to Westow House, for a pint of the freshest Hepcat in London - straight from their tanks over the bar? Many of our pubs hold bi-annual beer festivals, and our teams are experts in cellar-handling, to ensure our beer is brilliantly kept.
Of course, there is so much more we could say about Portobello - but local beer and great people does just about sum us up.
